Heritage
Jacob started My Friend Fernando as a way to explore his Mexican and Greek heritage while experimenting with his own style. Fernando is a family name, starting with Jacob's great grandfather and ending with his own son, Brooks Fernando. His grandfather Fernando, who briefly owned a restaurant in East LA, is an impressive figure in his life and his commitment to his family, work, community and overall love of life are exactly what pushed Jacob to put himself out there creativity with this pop up and dinner series. Running his own business means Jacob can spend more time with his son, who at two years old already loves food and cooking.
